The Sierra Nevada boasts the highest mountain range in mainland Spain. These three stunning mountains, Mulhacen, Alcazaba and Veleta provides the perfect format for your next 3 peak challenge.

Over a period of 3 days, we will traverse the beautiful mountains in the southern Spanish region of Andalusia of the Sierra Nevada National Park, covering 30 miles. These mountains are relatively quiet and are the second highest in Europe after the alps, they include 15 peaks over 3000m. Maye this could be another challenge

This is a trip like no other, where you can enjoy the 3 peaks challenge whilst immersing yourself in the incredible Andalusian Mountain culture and way of life.

ITINERARY DAYS 1-5

Day 1 - Arrival Day in Spain – Malaga - Lanjaron

Collection and meet up at Malaga airport and then private transfer to our hotel in Lanjaron. Plenty of time to explore the mountain village before food and an evening briefing; ready for the start of the hike in the morning.

Day 2 – Hoya de la Mora 2500m – Veleta 3395m – Altitude Gain 900m –9.95 Miles – 8 Hour Hike

After a good breakfast we will start our day by transfer to Hoya de la Mora. Today is about acclimatising to the mountains as we make a nice, steady pace up the north ridge on the rough and rocky path of Veleta. From the summit we head through Rio Seco Valley, descending to Refugio Poqueira for the evening.

Day 3 –Veleta 3395m – Mulhacen 3482m – Altitude Gain 1000m – 7 Miles – 6-7 Hour Hike

The route traverses through the Rio Mulhacen Valley and on to the Laguna de Caldera. We will ascend the steep, relentless west flank of Mulhacen. Once on the summit we will have stunning views across 50km chains of peaks. We will the descend for the evening to Poqueira Refugio. This is a true authentic mountain hut and the atmosphere is electric in the evening sat by the fire pit.

Day 4 – Mulhacen 3482m – Alcazaba 33645m – Altitude Gain 1100m – 13 Miles – 9 / 10 Hour Hike

Two down an one to go! We will traverse on the eastern slopes to Siete Lagunas, a stunning, tranquil spot consisting of 7 lakes in a dramatic mountain setting. Known locally as “The lady”, we traverse up and on to the summit of Alcazaba. That’s the 3 peaks in the bag, quick descent down to Lanjaron to meet the transport. Celebratory meal once everyone has freshened up.

Day 5 – Return to the UK

After breakfast a transfer will take you back to Malaga for you return flights home..
